If you have been here for a while you know that I love thrifting. I even have a vintage shop where I share my thrifted finds with you. One of my favorite items to thrift is vintage children’s books. I love the colors, patina, and graphics in vintage books. However, sometimes the books are not in the best condition. So to honor their memory, I love to upcycle them. One of my favorite ways to upcycle vintage books is with a paper chain garland. For just a couple of dollars and an afternoon, you can have a very sweet and vintage inspired paper garland.
I recently found a vintage The Night Before Christmas A Little Golden Book, and I thought it would make the perfect paper chain garland for Christmas. Today I will show you how very simple it is to make your own. You can even get your children involved as my four-year-old daughter helped me make a similar one.

Continue below for the step-by-step picture tutorial to make your own Vintage Christmas Book Paper Chain Garland.
To make your own paper chain Christmas garland, you will need:
Step 1: Carefully and slowly remove a page from the book.
Step 2: Use a paper cutter or scissors to trim the raw edge to create a clean edge.
Step 3: Cut the book page into 1 1/2 inch thick strips.
Step 4: Determine which side of the page you want to show.
Step 5: Create a loop with a strip of paper.
Apply a thin line of Beacon’s Quick Grip to one end of the paper strip. Then bring the other end over to create a loop, and hold it in place to secure the hold.
Step 6: Create the garland.
Slide the next strip of paper inside the loop and secure it with glue to create another loop. Then continue Steps 1-5 to create the charming garland.
Step 7: Display the garland and enjoy!
I love how this charming garland turned out, and I know it will be a Christmas decoration that I will cherish for many years to come!
I love the different book scenes that appear throughout the garland.
I hope you enjoy making this garland as much as I did!
Merry Christmas, and thank you so much for following along!
