Vintage quilts hold a special place in my heart. Coming from a long line of quilters—both of my late grandmothers, their mothers, my own mother, and mother-in-law—I’ve always had a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship and love stitched into every quilt.

As a child, I even made my own makeshift quilt stand out of a cardboard box, so I could join my mother and grandmother during their quilting parties. I was even lucky enough to win a ribbon at the county fair for my handiwork, but after that, life moved on, and my quilting took a backseat. I do hope to return to it one day when my children are older.

Watching quilts come together was magical—hours of laughter, teamwork, and dedication, knowing that each one was destined to be a heartfelt gift for someone special. Now, whenever I go thrifting, I’m always on the lookout for vintage quilts. To me, they’re pieces of history, each one telling a unique story through the hands that made them.

Unfortunately, many of the quilts I come across are worn and damaged from years of love and use. Around the same time, I began noticing the growing trend of upcycled quilt jackets on Pinterest and through some of my favorite bloggers like Brittany from The House That Lars Built. The idea of turning these beloved, weathered quilts into beautiful, wearable pieces felt like the perfect way to breathe new life into them.

This collaboration is the realization of that vision—taking quilts that were once cherished but are now worn, and transforming them into something both functional and artistic.
