I love the whimsical and sweet look of felt, but I was always intimidated by the crafting process. However, Clover has made it so easy to create your own custom felt embellishments with their needle felting tools. Last Fall, I created a Felt Pumpkin Wreath with Clover, and I learned how simple the felting process is. Today I am very lucky to partner with Clover to bring you a sweet way to add felt to your Valentine’s Day decor with this Felt Heart Valentine’s Day Wreath using Clover’s fantastic Pen Style Needle Felting Tool.
You may know that I love using Clover’s products as you can see from the DIY Colorful Pom-Pom Christmas Tree, the DIY Pom-Pom Heart Wreath from last year’s Valentine’s Day, the DIY Pom-Pom & Tassel Bunny Garland for Easter, the DIY Pom-Pom Summer Floral Arrangement for summer, the DIY Pom-Pom & Tassel Bag Charm, and more recently the DIY Fabric Yo-Yo Wreath.
The beauty in this DIY is that the colors and shapes are fully customizable. Clover’s felting tools allow you to safely create any felting shapes you want with such ease and all while having so much fun! The possibilities are endless, and I am so excited to continue to experiment with more felting techniques.

Continue below for the step-by-step pictorial to make your own Felt Heart Valentine’s Day Wreath.
To Make Your Own Felt Heart Valentine’s Day Wreath, you will need:
Prepare the Wreath Frame
Step 1: Attach the ribbon to the wreath frame with hot glue.
*This will create a pretty base for the wreath, and it will give the felt hearts a better surface to adhere to.
Step 2: Tightly wrap the ribbon around the wreath frame. Overlap the ribbon so the entire wreath frame is covered.
Step 3: Once the wreath is covered, cut the ribbon. Then secure the end to the wreath with hot glue.
Step 4: Create a wreath hanger with the ribbon at the top, back of the wreath.
Set the wreath aside.
Create the Felt Hearts
Step 1: Tear or cut a small piece from the wool roving.
Step 2: Pull apart and separate the wool fibers to create a beautiful mess.
To create fun interest, I created three different colored felt hearts. I also like adding multiple colors together to create dimension and added charm. If you choose multiple colors you can mix the fibers together with your fingers or use Clover’s Felting Needle Claw to integrate the fibers together.
Step 3: Place the cookie cutter on top of Clover’s Needle Felting Mat, and place the stretched wool fibers into the cookie cutter.
Step 4: Remove the top portion of Clover’s Pen Style Needle Felting Tool, and twist the safeguard onto it.
Step 5: Stab the needle felting tool into the loose fibers.
Start on the edges to create a nice shape, then continue on the inside of the heart.
Be sure to avoid hitting the cookie cutter with your needle felting tool, so the delicate needles don’t get broken.
Continue to stab the loose fibers together with the needle felting tool.
Step 6: With the wool fibers still inside the cookie cutter, turn the cookie cutter over.
Step 7: Apply the stabbing method to the other side of the heart so that you create a secure shape.
Step 8: Repeat steps 6 & 7 until you create a felt heart.
The more you stab, the more secure your heart will be.
Step 11: Enjoy your finished heart. Continue to make more until you have enough for your wreath.
I made 10 large hearts, and 18 small hearts for my wreath.
Step 12: Clean your mat with Clover’s Felting Needle Mat Cleaner.
Create the Felt Heart Wreath
Step 1: Attach the large hearts along the wreath frame with hot glue to accentuate the heart shape.
As a reminder, I attached 10 large hearts.
Step 2: Once all of the large hearts are attached to the wreath, attach the small hearts with hot glue on top of the large hearts and to fill in any gaps on the wreath.
As a reminder, I attached 18 small hearts to this wreath.
Step 3: Continue to add the hearts to the wreath until it is fully covered.
*It may be helpful to lay out the hearts to confirm the placement before you commit to gluing them.
Enjoy your custom, whimsical wreath just in time for Valentine’s Day!
