As a child one of my favorite things to do was embellish and personalize my clothes. Well, I still love to do that. I believe there is something so special about personalizing a piece of clothing to help showcase your unique style. That is exactly what I did with today’s DIY.
This beaded heart sweatshirt tutorial is such a simple way to elevate a basic or old sweatshirt. It took me less than 30 minutes and I had so much fun making it.
The best part about this DIY is that it is customizable. You can apply this technique to elevate any piece of fabric, and you can choose any color palette and design your heart's desire! I also loved using these clay beads from my bracelet project and my bag charm, because they lay flat and adhere very well to the glue and fabric.

Continue below for the step-by-step picture tutorial to make your own beaded heart sweatshirt.
To make your own beaded heart sweatshirt, you will need:
Step 1: Iron the sweater, then place a piece of cardboard inside the sweater so the glue doesn’t seep through.
Step 2: Create a heart pattern with the beads onto the sweater.
*Have fun with this. It doesn’t have to be perfect.
*You can use a stencil or a cookie cutter to create a more “perfect” shape.
Step 3: Apply a small amount of Beacon’s Fabri-Tac to the back of the disc bead. Then attach the bead to the sweater.
Continue to attach all of the beads to the sweater.
*Use tweezers to carefully grab the bead and then to attach it to the sweater. Clean off the tweezers with a wet cloth if they get too much glue on them in between applications.
*Take your time with this part, because the beads will shift easily since they aren’t glued down yet.
Step 4: After your sweater has dried for 24 hours, you can hand wash or wash it on gentle cycle.
Step 5: Enjoy your custom beaded heart sweater!
I hope you enjoy making this very simple beaded heart sweatshirt as much as I did. Thank you for following along today!
