You Are My Sunshine First Birthday Party
My baby (youngest of three) just turned one, and today I wanted to share his cheerful: You are My Sunshine birthday decorations with you. I mentioned before that I love planning and decorating for kid’s birthday parties, because there are no rules and you can have so much fun setting the mood of the party with the decorations, games, music and food. You can see some of my other children’s birthday parties here and here.
I felt You Are My Sunshine was a natural fit for my youngest, because he is a true ray of light: always smiling and laughing. I was also inspired by this adorable pinata from Meri Meri. On that note, two of my favorite party supply websites to look to for inspiration and products for children’s birthday parties are: Meri Meri and Oh Happy Day.
The day was one for the memory books. It was full of conversations with loved ones, and laughter from little ones. My son thoroughly enjoyed his smash cake, the little ones loved the bouncy house and the pinata, and all savored the homemade ice cream made by my mother-in-law.
And now, I would love to take you behind-the-scenes at his birthday party. I hope you enjoy!
*For your benefit, I have included a supply list of the items at the bottom of this post.
My five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter wanted to add to the party with their own decorations. So they drew and colored their own suns, which I in turn digitized with a scanner and then printed out. We placed the sun pictures throughout the party house.
I love a good statement wall, and this sun-inspired fan wall was the perfect backdrop for the food table.
The showstopper was the adorable naked cakes my sweet friend Rebecka with Sweet Alyse bakery made. Not only were the main cake and smash cake beautiful, but they were delectable as witnessed by my son who ate almost all of his smash cake (with the help of his sister and some of her friends).
This adorable pinata helped me set the theme for the event.
I also added a fun balloon garland to greet people as they entered the party house.
These 3 foot balloons from Oh Happy Day were fun additions to the table. They were even more fun for the little ones to play with as the party got started.
