The Design
This is where I started over 6 months ago. I have been dreaming about this space for over a year, but a little over 6 months ago I wrote this blog post and actually purchased the pieces for it!
Changes to the design

As I finalized the design plan, I made some changes and I learned some things along the way. I learned that it is okay to pivot.
My original inspiration for the color palette was a charming piece of fabric that I purchased on Etsy. I decided that I didn’t want a design board in the space anymore because I felt it would look too cluttered.
I also decided to change course with the charming velvet chair and the floral lamp from Anthropologie, because they were too expensive. So, I shopped my home and reused this white desk chair from my home office, and I used my own handmade floral lamp.
The end result is just as cute, and I can always change the plan as I see or feel inspired to.
the final office design in my craft studio
Now onto the fun part. You can see, the centerpiece of my office makeover is the colorful wall calendar. I purchased it from Etsy, and I chose this one because I loved the pastel hues of it. I knew it would complement the rest of my decor really well. Not only is it functional, helping me keep track of important dates and deadlines, but its vivid design also uplifts the mood of the entire space. And, by adding the Ribba white frames from Ikea to it, I have made the calendar a dry erase board. This is so important because my deadlines and projects are always changing. I keep my dry erase markers in this adorable lady head vase that I thrifted in Round Top.
Complementing this wall calendar focal point is my stunning Lindsay Letters Milk Glass Print. I’ve had it for years and I love the color and the whimsy quality in the flowers. The soft hues and refined design bring a sense of serenity, harmonizing perfectly with the playful decor throughout the studio. It reflects my love for creativity while making a statement that enhances the inviting atmosphere of the space.
No office makeover would be complete without unique lighting, and my handmade floral lamp steals the show! Adorned with a delightful design that mimics blooming flowers, this lamp not only casts a warm glow but also serves as a stunning decorative element. It embodies sweet feminine charm, creating a tranquil ambiance that fuels my productivity during late-night brainstorming sessions.
Incorporating thrifted pieces has added a personal touch and story to my office, breathing character into the space. One of my prized possessions is this vintage cash register that I purchased last Spring in Round Top, which adds a delightful vintage flair. Not only does it serve as a quirky conversation starter, but it also evokes memories of days gone by. The pink typewriter, another treasure I found on my thrifting adventures, is both nostalgic and functional; its vibrant color ignites my love for writing while bringing an artistic vibe to the desk.
And, I love using thrifted finds in new ways like this giant floral frog. It makes the perfect pen and scissor holder without being too visually cluttered.
I not only love the color of this charming green scalloped cart, but its lines are so cute! It allows for versatility in the decor while maintaining the playful aesthetic I was after. This cart is currently displaying my vintage typewriter, but I can see it housing my Cricut Explore 3 and my crafting supplies.
The sweet pink filing cabinet will finally give me a place to store all of my important documents, and to keep me organized. While this sweet desk will give me the space to daydream and write blog posts!
To pull everything together, I chose a beautiful scalloped jute rug with a light pink trim, which adds warmth and a touch of earthiness to the mixture of colors and patterns. It’s not just a decorative necessity but also provides a soft foundation that makes the space feel cozy and inviting. The subtle texture elevates the atmosphere, inviting me to sit down and get lost in my creative pursuits.
Ways that I Saved money for my office makeover
Shopped My Home First. I found inspiration from this Lindsay Letters print that I have had for years. I used it in this space, and it inspired the whole design with its fabulous color palette. I didn’t need to buy a new art piece for this space because I already had something that I loved. So, look around your home and see what you can reuse and repurpose.
DIY When You Can. I love DIY projects, and to cut down on some of the costs I DIYd some of these projects. I created the floral lamp to save money, and I also created these dry erase calendars as well!
Include Thrifted Pieces in Your Design. You know that I love using thrifted pieces for their fun storytelling ability, but they are also a great way to save money as most of your big box store finds will be more expensive.
Don’t Be Afraid to Pivot. There were several times during this project where I had to change direction, because I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for and I didn’t want to spend the money on it. But, that is okay because the end result is sometimes better than you expect.
The transformation of my office in the Country Peony Studio into a colorful, feminine, and charming space has been a really fun one and I am so happy that I did it. It is a reminder that our spaces should be as unique and vibrant as our ideas, making every day a delightful adventure in creativity.
Thank you so much for following along. I would love to hear what you think about my new office space.
