Happy Summer! If you are coming over from Simply2Moms then, welcome! How beautiful is their front porch?!

I am so excited to be a part of the Summer Home Tours hosted by my beautiful friend Kelly of The Tattered Pew. If you are new here, my name is Elizabeth and I am the creator behind Country Peony, a DIY and craft blog that focuses on simple and inexpensive projects to inspire everyone to create in their own homes. I truly believe that we are all creative, and we all have something beautiful to share. So thank you for being here!

Country Peony Craft Studio

Today I would love to feature my under construction craft studio: The Country Peony Studio. The exterior wood and some of the interior wood of the building was salvaged from a general store from the late 1800s just down the road, here in Texas. I love the look of the old barnwood and the beautiful story that it tells. If you want to read more about the history of the original building and the vision for the Country Peony Studio, please visit this blog post.

As you may notice throughout the video and pictures below, we are still under construction and there are some details missing. But, I am having so much fun with this and I love how it is turning out.

I hope to provide a space to dream, create, and collaborate. I hope to provide creative workshops wheer people can dream and create together! The old wood has such a wonderful story, and I can’t wait to add more wonderful stories to its life with this studio.

Please Enjoy a Video Tour of the Country Peony Studio in its Current State.

Then follow along for some fun details of the Country Peony Studio through pictures.

Now, let me showcase some of the fun details of the Country Peony Studio through pictures.

Exterior of the Country Peony Studio

The exterior wood was rescued from an old general store, AJ Cernosek Grocery, about a mile away from the current location of the Country Peony Studio. We didn’t have enough wood from the original store to cover the entire building, so we also rescued some wood from an old barn in Iowa and I love how it turned out! The charm and character of the old wood is stunning!

To accent the old wood, we added black trim windows, and then a white wood trim around the windows and building to give it a feminine touch. We added accents of copper and brass in the lighting and porch for a whimsical touch. Then, I incorporated Country Peony’s signature blush pink (my favorite color) and added it to the doors. Finally, the tin roof with the ridge cresting really elevates the building.

We plan to add a large “Country Peony” sign directly under the lights, with a black and white awning directly below that. Then, I have sourced some Old Chicago brick for the skirting!

I believe the patina of the original wood is so stunning, and it plays so well off of the feminine details like the blush pink door.

When you walk through the pink doors, you enter the main room which is the crafting room of the Country Peony Studio.

My goal for the space was to create an open concept area that was bright and white, perfect for creating, filming, and taking photographs of my projects.

We achieved this look with shiplap accented by Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace. The open beams, and light pine floors create an airy feel that inspires creativity.

Some of the first purchases that we made when we knew the studio was going to happen, were these incredible chandeliers from Wayfair. They add the perfect touch of elegance, whimsy, and feminine detail that I was after.

Natural light is a bloggers best friend, and so we added 8 foot windows throughout the space to ensure we had enough natural light.

French Oak Notary Cabinet as Craft Storage

I am vintage lover at heart! I even have a vintage store where I sell handcrafted vintage goods like Vintage Quilt Jackets, and thrifted finds on Etsy.

So, one of my main goals in this studio is to bring in beautiful, vintage pieces that tell a story but also serve a beautiful purpose. Enter the French Oak Notary Cabinet that I purchased from Elsie Green.

I wanted a large cabinet that could store my beautiful crafting supplies, but could also serve as a wonderful backdrop when I create videos or take pictures. I searched for a long time, and I was so excited to stumble upon this piece.

I love how my floral wreath looks staged against the cabinet.

I can not wait to add all of my beautiful crafting supplies, like yarn, paint, paintbrushes, and fabric to these beautiful cubbies.

Vintage Workbench

I mentioned above that I want to fill this space with pieces that tell a beautiful story. I found this charming vintage workbench at Cottonseed Trading Company in Round Top, Texas and I love it so much. It has such a beautiful patina, and the numbers and letters stenciled on the side add so much character.

Crafting Table

In the middle of the craft room is the crafting table. This is where I will do most of my creating.

This table used to be our dining room table in the first house that my husband and I bought. It was the first, large purchase that I ever made at Texas Antiques Week in Round Top, Texas and I am so happy that it has found a new home here in the studio.

Country Peony Studio Kitchenette

On the other wall of the craft room is the kitchenette. As you can see, the cabinets still need hardware and the countertop needs a sink, but I love its bones.

The charming light is from Anthropologie, and the countertop is Florence Gold Quartz. The cabinets are from Home Depot.

I love all of the possible styling opportunities on my beautiful new countertops. For instance, I love how my charming pink 1950’s Brother Zig Zag sewing machine that I thrifted last weekend looks on the countertop!

The sink for the kitchenette will be this incredible vintage washboard cast iron sink. This sink came from the farmhouse that we currently live in. When we renovated the farmhouse, we didn’t have room for the sink but we held onto it, and I am so glad that we did. The sink needed to be refinished, so we hired someone to bring it back to life and add a blush pink to it in the process! I love it so much, and I know it will look beautiful in the kitchenette.

Craft Storage Room

Unfortunately, we were not able to save a lot of the interior wood from the original general store because of termite and water damage, but we did get to keep some of it for the flooring in the storage room. I believe it looks beautiful next to the new pine in the craft room.

The craft storage room is a small room off of the craft room that has the original flooring, industrial lights, and white industrial shelves.

I plan to get some cute plastic bins and use my Cricut to make pretty labels for an organized and pretty space.

And now for the grand finale! Please enjoy what may be my favorite part of the studio, the bathroom!

When I was designing the bathroom, I wanted a space full of color, whimsy, and feminine details.

The main area is a bright, white space. I wanted the bathroom to carry the personality!

I started the design process with this incredible wallpaper from Lulie Wallace, called Suzanna. Please enjoy this fun Reel from my Instagram page to see how I applied the wallpaper.

Then, I pulled the pinky-peach color of the flowers and added it to the wainscoting.

To bring in the whimsy, I added these super charming, designer-inspired, sconces and overhead light to the space.

We added a white tin ceiling and a charming register to accent the wallpaper and lighting.

The final touch is the super charming floral tile flooring. I wanted a custom tile job without the custom price so I enlisted the help of my wonderful brother Joe to bring my vision to life. He did an incredible job!

We used 2 inch sage green, blush, and white hexagonal tile from The Tile Shop to complete this look!

If you want to see how we created the tile floor, please enjoy this Reel from my Instagram page.

Craft Room Bathroom

Next up is plumbing, a mirror, some brass hooks, and beautiful accessories and the bathroom will be complete!
