Ready for an afternoon treat, or want to impress your guests at your next summer party? Then I would recommend today’s elevated take on classic lemonade: Honey Lavender Lemonade. The flavor and smell combos of calming lavender, sweet honey, and tart lemons work beautifully together to make this very relaxing, yet festive lemonade.
Honestly, I recently jumped on the lavender bandwagon. As a child I didn’t enjoy the smell and didn’t understand its benefits. However, as an adult I started diffusing it as part of my nightly bath and yoga practice, and it truly helps to create a relaxing environment. Aside from stress lavender has also been known to help with: insomnia, headaches, depression, allergies, anxiety, the common cold, and the list goes on and on.
Needless to say I am now a lavender convert, and I welcome the beautiful scent of lavender into my life. I wanted to try adding lavender to some of my kitchen excursions, and so I decided to use some culinary lavender since the summer Texas heat killed my fresh lavender. This recipe is perfect if you want to start working with lavender in the kitchen since it is so simple. Then you can eventually try your hand at baking and cooking with lavender. Lavender scones, anyone?
*Also, a little bit of lavender oil goes a long way. You will see that the culinary oil or extract is very concentrated so don’t overdo it. Because, as you know too much of anything is not a good thing.
Please follow the steps below to make your own honey lavender lemonade.

Step 1: In a medium pot over medium heat, cook the water and honey until the honey dissolves into the water. Stir continuously. You don’t want the mixture to boil. It will take about 2 minutes for the honey to fully integrate.
*I love using local honey when I can, and my parents have a wonderful bee hive that we harvest from. If you can use local honey it is always best.
Remove from heat once the honey has dissolved into the water, and allow it to cool to room temperature.
Step 2: While your honey water is cooling, squeeze the lemons to make 1 cup of lemon juice.
Step 3: Strain the lemon juice into the pitcher to remove extra pulp and seeds from the lemonade.
Step 4: Add the honey water to the pitcher with the lemon juice. Stir the honey water and lemon juice together to make the lemonade.
Step 5: Add the lavender extract to the lemonade and stir.
Step 6: Add some ice to a cute glass and enjoy your afternoon off!
I store mine in large mason jars in the fridge.
I hope you enjoy adding your own unique twist to this lemonade with lavender.
